Yes, I teach about human evolution, and this article, I'm afraid, demonstrates a basic misunderstanding of how natural selection and evolution works. It is committing multiple errors, but perhaps the most obvious is a Lamarckian idea that 'disuse' leads to the loss of a trait. The author should probably spend some time with serious evolutionary thought if more columns about evolution are to follow. Also, it would be helpful to learn about the teleological error, which is also saturating this text.

No credible evolutionary theorist would support the suggestions in this piece.
