As a man on the dating scene, I can tell you that this is a crucial factor. In so many profiles, women state height preference as a killer consideration: I’d say it’s one of the top five. Even if I’m over a woman’s “lowest limit,” I find the practice so off-putting that I won’t respond — to me, it would be like a man saying he “required” a certain bra size for a woman to be suitable for consideration. It’s not as tacky, sure, but it’s just as shallow. Some women say they “like to wear heals” as if that’s contingent upon their date’s height…

Unfortunately, it’s a common feature of what can be a toxic dating culture focused on superficiality. In Australia, where I live, it’s exhausting to even get involved in it — dating apps sometimes feel like job applications.
